Ptriodacytl in the KGB Jazz Lounge

The Flamingo Lounge, 10768 King George Boulevard, Surrey

Pardalis Studio and the Flamingo Present the KGB Jazz Lounge with guests Thursdays at 8pm.

Thursday February 15 we welcome Ptriodactyl. Hailing from Salmon Arm and Vancouver, Ptriodactyl is an electrifying trio of voice, violin, and bass, that travels 466.6 km to rehearse, record, and perform together. This youthful, innovative group is constantly challenging themselves in both their originals and their interpretations of jazz standards by refusing to transcribe to the traditional musical roles of their instruments. Looking to groups like Triology, The Oscar Peterson Trio, and The Jennifer Scott Trio for their inspiration, this band is a unique fusion of groove and space. With their effervescent synergy, musical interplay, and sense of humour, Ptriodactyl captivates audiences and is not one to miss.

No cover. 50/50 Draw - your chance to win and pay the performers! Drink specials

About the bands: Slevyn – A little bit of grunge, rock, soul, and some blistering harmonies. With a gritty sound and soaring vocals, supported by the heart pounding drive of bass and drums. You won't know if you should mosh or find someone to slow dance with. www.slevyn.ca Sly Detrick - If rise against, blink green day and nirvana had a kid... who hung out with sum41, the story so far and 3 days grace. Had dads like nofx and bad religion and had a dog then ya that would be us. https://www.facebook.com/slydetrickmusic/ Caustic SodaPop - Classic Rock with a bit of punk edge. Caustic SodaPop can best be described as an ever evolving indie-WTF. Started in 2001 by lead vocal, lead guitarist Aaron, as a scrappy 90's punk band reminiscent of Bad Religion, Rancid and NoFX, the band has continuously evolved. With the recent addition of Alan on the drums, the songs can range from straight up 12 bar blues, country, pop and indie all with a good punky kick.

Caustic SodaPop (CSP to friends!), lives for the live show. We believe very strongly that we not just be a band that stands on a stage and plays our songs, but puts on a very active, high energy show with quality music every single show. https://www.facebook.com/CausticSodaPop/

Landmark 20 - Landmark 20 is an Indie-Punk band from North Vancouver, Canada. The band has been playing together for over 6 years and over the past year have greatly increased their presence in the Vancouver music scene.

In 2015 Landmark 20 Released their first EP titled Inconstistant on Soundcloud and since then have grown exponentially creatively and professionally. The band released their first full length “Sidewalks” in January of 2017 and have been playing the songs from both records all across the Lower Mainland. The band was a semi-finalists in the “Best in Vancouver battle of the bands” and headlined North Vancouver City-Fest in May of 2017. Landmark 20 is looking to play as much as possible in the future and make a new record soon.

The Big Easy Funk Ensemble celebrates the amazing variety of music that has grown out of New Orleans. With influences from 60’s funk legends The Meters and Dr. John to more recent groups like Galactic and Trombone Shorty. BEFE (pronounced ‘beafy’) mixes many genres of funk, jazz and blues to create awesome grooves. The 9 member band includes a 3-piece horn section comprised of Andrew Benton (Sax), Kevin Tang (Trombone) and Ryan Naso (Trumpet). The rhythm section includes Reece Worth (Guitar), Eric Stephenson (Bass), Tyler Gibson (Keyboards/Organ), Ryan Davis (Drums), Jeffrey Kornblum (Percussion) and last but not least the mesmerizing Christopher Berry on Vocals.

A Mardi Gras party in 2014 brought the band together for the first time and by the end of the show both musicians and audience knew that this band had to continue. Three years and many shows later, BEFE has developed a large repertoire of songs covering a wide range of NOLA talent from Louis Armstrong to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band to Allen Toussaint to the Pimps of Joytime.

The Big Easy Funk Ensemble is fast becoming one of Vancouver BC’s preeminent party bands by attracting fans and stimulating dance floors. Don’t miss their next show at the Ocean Park Hall November 4th!
